LAHORE - PML-N leader Senator Pervaiz Rashid has said the Punjab government is following zero-tolerance policy against terrorism. This was stated by him during a talk show on a private TV channel. He said no grant had been given to Jamaat-Al-Daawa in the new budget for the year 2010-2011. He said all institutions running under the control of the proscribed organisation had been taken over by the Punjab government and had no connection with the disbanded organisation. He said children of poor families were benefiting from education and medical facilities from these welfare institutions. In reply to a question, Senator Pervaiz Rashid said the budget document was itself a proof of the fact that no grant had been given to Daawa. He said United Nations had directed the government to take over all assets of disbanded organisation. He said the organisation was carrying out some relief work such as operating schools and dispensaries were now being run under the control of Punjab government and the Commissioner Lahore was the incharge. He said the syllabus of these schools was the same as that of other schools. The Punjab government had control over these schools and the same was the case with the dispensaries which were being run under the administrative control of the government. He further said there was a complete consensus of opinion about elimination of terrorism and the government had adopted zero-tolerance policy in this regard.
