LAHORE - Three accused gunned down a 55-year-old labourer, father of five, over old enmity in Nishtar Colony police precincts in the wee hours of Monday. The deceased later identified as Nazeer Masih, a resident of Yohanaabad, was a gardener at a local graveyard. Police investigators said the accused including Irfan alias Boodi, Kala Masih along with their third unidentified accomplice opened indiscriminate firings on Nazeer when he was watering the trees of the graveyard. According to police of the said police station, the accused after killing the victim managed to flee from the crime scene. Muneer, son of the deceased, in his statement to police disclosed the father of Irfan was killed some years back and he suspected his (Muneer) father involved in that killing. They have killed my father taking a revengeful action against my family, he added. Later a case was also lodged on the statement of Muneer with no arrest till filing of this report. Further investigations were underway. Meanwhile a 30-year-old youth committed suicide over issueless condition of his family in Naseerabad police limits on Monday, police said. The deceased identified as Mohammad Nawaz, resident of Gulbahaar Colony. Police investigators said Nawaz, a private company accountant, was married some two years back but the couple was issueless since their marriage, on which, Nawaz was disappointed. On the day of incident, Nawaz went to Nawaz Sharif Park and took poisonous pills. Police said the deceased, after taking pills, also phoned to his brother and informed about the condition saying, I have took venomous pills and going to close the chapter of my life. Police investigators said seconds after the phone call; the relatives rushed to the Park and shifted the victim to a nearby hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead. An on duty police officer, however, said the chief reason behind the death could not be established before any visible evidence the victim family members, however, said Nawaz has committed suicide over family disputes. Later, police handed over the body to his heirs after medico-legal formalities. Meanwhile, a body of a 50-year-old unidentified man was found from gate-5 in Lower Mall police area. Police shifted the body to the city morgue for autopsy.
