Savage SHO booked, nicked

Acting Punjab Inspector General (IG) of Police Khan Baig on Friday constituted a special team for the investigation of Raja Ram rape case besides getting arrested the SHO of Raja Ram Police Station for offering relief to the accused.
The IGP also got admitted the injured members of the aggrieved family of Abdul Razzaq to the hospital while an FIR was registered against the arrested SHO Javed Iqbal.
The prime accused Ashiq, his sons and nephews broke into the house of one Abdul Razaq a few days back on a dispute and allegedly raped his 14-year-old daughter and 18-year-old daughter-in-law in presence of the entire family. The aggrieved family approached the Raja Ram Police but the SHO took two days to register the case. Police sources said that five accused including Ashiq were arrested while eight others were still at large.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the case and sent IGP to Raja Ram to take action. Some other high officials from other investigative agencies and the Home Department also accompanied the IGP. Talking to the journalists, the IGP said that the way the local police officials acted brought shame to the entire department.
He assured that the aggrieved family would be given justice. He said that a special investigation team was constituted which would accomplish the investigation very soon.
Irate transporters throw traffic out of gear: Highly irked on unavailability of CNG and challans by traffic police, the transporters staged a demonstration at Vehari Chowk and blocked roads leading to Vehari, Bahawalpur and Muzaffargarh on Friday. The transporters assembled at the chowk and shouted slogans against the government and traffic wardens. They parked their wagons and buses around the chowk and blocked traffic.
The protesters forced commuters to disembark on which many travellers scuffled with them. Angry transporters told the journalists that shortage of CNG and excessive challans ruined their business and their families were starving. They warned that they would not let any transport operate on the roads if their demands were not accepted. They demanded the government to ensure CNG supply and direct traffic police not to oppress the transporters otherwise they would continue their protest.
PROTEST AGAINST DOCTORS: The relatives of a 14-year-old boy who died of doctors’ alleged negligence, staged a demonstration outside Nishtar Hospital and demanded action against the negligent medics. The Medical Superintendent of Nishtar Hospital told journalists that an inquiry committee had been constituted to investigate the issue and strict action would be taken if negligence was found. The deceased Taimoor was brought to the Nishtar Emergency because of typhoid and he was shifted to Ward No-7. The heirs of the boy told the journalists that a doctor injected him some wrong medicine and he died of its reaction.
