The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has established a Special Inquiry Unit to conduct scrutiny of assets of all the government officials and employees in Gujranwala Division.

According to FIA officials, the Special Inquiry Unit would conduct the scrutiny of the assets of all the senior and junior government officials and employees in Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts.

The special FIA teams have started process of secret scrutiny of the senior and junior officials and employees of several federal departments including Wapda, SNGPL, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Customs, PTCL, Pakistan Postal Services Corporation and National Highways and collecting data of their properties and financial status since the date of their appointments.

Senior FIA officials said that after the rapid probe, stern legal action would also be taken against corrupt officials bringing them to book and forfeiting their properties. They added that the FIA would keep the names of those who provide any relevant information against the assets of the government officials secret.

The senior FIR officials said that the Special Inquiry Unit was collecting the proof of the corruption and relevant data would be sent to the senior high ups.

They revealed that FIA Director would take action against the corrupt officials till the Grade 16, while Director General FIA would bring the corrupt officials above the Grade 16 to book.
