First stroke centre at LGH inaugurated

LAHORE - Ex Principal Postgraduate Medical Institute Prof Anjum Habib Vohra inaugurated first stroke center at Lahore General Hospital on Sunday.
This will be the first such health facility in the country to be run with the financial assistance of Akhuwat. Medical Superintendent LGH Dr Saeed Sahoban and representatives of Akhuwat signed an MoU in this respect.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof Anjum Habib Vohra said that LGH has established a good name in research for new treatments of diseases. He said that patronage of the CM and financial assistance of philanthropists has gone a long way to achieve targets. He said that paralysis was the third most common disease after heart attack and cancer in western countries.
“Major causes of this ailment are smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure and lack of physical exercises. We face more problems like pollution and mental stress in Pakistan as compare to developed countries which results in increase of this disease”, he said, adding, this disease was on the rise in people of age group from 30 to 40 years.
