At least 16 persons including five children and two women were killed in various incidents of drowning, violence and road mishaps occurred in different areas over the past 48 hours.

According to details, in Kasur 11-year-old Hamza, son of Muhammad Siddique, a resident of suburban village Barian Kalan drowned in BRB canal. Search for the body is continued till filing of this report.

In bordering village Rajjianwala Aarian, 13-year-old Ghazanfar Ali was crushed under the shaft of a tractor while taking a bath in tub-well. Similarly, Mazhar Ali, a resident of Lahore and Muhammad Ihsaan, a resident of Sahiwal who worked at a local factory drowned in Bagrian canal in Mustafaabad area. The rescue 1122 divers continued search for the dead bodies till filing of this report.

In suburban village Burj Kalan, a five-year-old child electrocuted. Hamza, son of Shabbir Ahmed was attempting to switch on a TV when he sustained severe electric shocks and died instantly.

In Kanganpur, a motorcyclist, identified as Tassawar Muhammad Khan was killed in a collision with a rickshaw. He was return to his village Hassna when near Bank Stop, a rickshaw coming from the opposite direction collided with his bike. He sustained critical injuries and was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.

In Sheikhupura, a woman was strangled to death by her husband in village Dera Chohan. The accused Zulfiqar had quarrelled with his wife Salma over petty dispute. Later after being infuriated strangled her to death. Ferozewala police looking into the matter.

In Khanewal, dead bodies of two unidentified persons were founded in different areas. The dead body of a young woman, whose identity could not be ascertained yet, was found from Pull 16 LBD canal. Another dead body of an unidentified man was recovered from a canal near Chak 126/15-L. The bodies were shifted to DHQ Hospital for autopsy and the police have launched investigation.

In Bhakkar, two children died when wall of a house collapsed due to heavy rain here on Sunday.

Police said that heavy rain followed by windstorm and thunderstorm lashed Chak 35-DB and Rahdariyan localities. Resultantly dilapidated wall of a house suddenly came down.

Two children present near the scene were buried under the debris and died instantly. The police and locals jointly dug out the bodies from the rubble and shifted to hospital.

In Faisalabad, two persons died and three others injured when a speeding car overturned here on Sunday.

The accident took place on motorway near Kamalpur Interchange when a speeding car got out of control and overturned. Resultantly two persons died on the spot while three others sustained multiple wounds. The dead bodies and injured were shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities.

In Multan, the police recovered dead bodies of two children from dickey of a car here on Sunday.

Police said that residents spotted a suspicious car parked by roadside on Old Bagh Road in Multan.

After information, the police reached the scene and during search of the vehicle, found dead bodies of two children from its dickey. The bodies were shifted to hospital and the police impounded the vehicle.

The police have launched investigation into the incident.

In Mailsi, a teenager drowned in canal while taking bath to beat the heat here on Sunday. Rescue sources said that youngsters were enjoying swimming in Mailsi Link Canal Thengi when a 13-year-old boy went into deep water and drowned. Search for the body was in progress till filing of this report.
