The Law Enforcement Agencies personnel foiled a sabotage bid and recovered 400 kgs of explosives, detonators, two suicide jackets, 12 Kalashnikovs, four pistols and hundreds of bullets from a home in Alipur Tehsil, some 65-km away from here on Sunday. The LEAs also nailed two suspect terrorists identified as Muhammad Asif and Ghulam Shabbir.

Muzaffargarh DPO Rai Zameerul Haq told the media that the arrested suspects were being interrogated by the special investigation teams. He pointed out that two members of the gang had already been killed in a shootout. He informed that DG Khan Regional Police Officer Rehmat Ullah Niazi had organised a joint team comprising the Jatoi Police officials and the CIA staff DG Khan on June 17. The team conducted a raid and foiled the plan to attack police-posts during the holy month of Ramazan. Talking to The Nation RPO Rehmat Ullah Niazi informed that “we are searching for Umer Farooq, the owner of the house and who is a commander of banned religious outfit who managed to run away from the site just before the raid.” The RPO claimed that the police had also recovered a motorcycle which had been snatched from the police during an attack on a police-post at Punjnad Head works last year. He declared that the arrested had also been involved in firing on police guards in Uch Sharif during Taraveeh prayers in 2014.
