ISLAMABAD - The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Thursday announced to form a three-member committee to review posting and transfers in federal and provincial bureaucracy ahead of the general election.

The committee would comprise Shafqat Mahmood, Asad Umer and Fawad Chaudhary. According to the party’s media office, the committee would meet on Friday with PTI chief Imran Khan in the chair. A spokesman for the party said that free and fair election was the prime objective of the party.

He said it was necessary that the election machinery was capable and neutral so that no one could challenge the credibility of the election process. He said that the committee would review which officers had been assigned the posting and election role, particularly in Punjab and Sindh.

The party would come up with its observations on the posting and transfer orders, according to the spokesman.

In a massive reshuffle, the Election Commission of Pakistan on Wednesday changed secretaries, commissioners, police big guns in Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan to ensure a greater degree of transparency in the upcoming general election. Similar changes were expected to be made in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa by the weekend.
