IHC banishes Nawaz's plea for joint verdict on NAB references

The Islamabad High court (IHC) has declined on Friday Nawaz Sharif’s appeal seeking a joint verdict on the three corruption cases filed by NAB against him.

Justices Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and Aamer Farooq have reserved their decision yesterday.

NAB had filed three corruption references against former prime minister Nawaz Shairf and his family in accountability court of Islamabad after the Supreme Court (SC) decision in Panama Papers case.

The IHC banch stated that Nawaz’s lawyer has already the final arguments in Avenfield reference so the plea for joint decision is invalid.

During the hearing, NAB prosecutor Sardar Muzaffar argued that all the three references were independent.  For one reference the complete arguments have already been presented before the accountability court.

On June, 5 the accountability court had dismissed Nawaz’s appeal for final arguments in all the three references against him and his family.
