21 players invited to senior hockey camp





LAHORE - Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has invited 21 players for attending a training camp here from March 25 to prepare the team to feature in for two major international events to be played in April and May.
Pakistan will host a Tri-Nation Hockey Tournament involving India and Malaysia from April 9 to 13 and then will participate in Sultan Azlan Shah Cup being played in Ipoh from May 24, a PHF spokes-man said this here on Wednesday.
"It is likely that four to five more players from junior string will be included after approval from national selection committee," he added.
The probables who will attend the camp are Imran Butt and Imran Shah (Gks), Sohail Abbas, Kashif Shah, Ihsan Ullah Khan, M Irfan and Amir Shahzad (Fullbacks), M Rizwan Junior, Fareed Ahmed, Rashid Mehmood, M Tousiq and Ammad Shakeel Butt (Halves), Waqas Sharif, Abdul Haseem Khan, M Rizwan Senior, M Zubair, Ali Shan, Shafqat Rasool, M Umar Bhutta and Shabbir Khan (Forwards).
Trials for selection of jr hockey team: Final trials for the selection of Pakistan junior hockey team to play Test match series against Malaysian and South Korean junior hockey teams (from April 4 to 13) will be held here at National Hockey Stadium today (Thursday).
The trials will be observed by the National Selection Committee comprising Abdul Hanif Khan, Arshad Ali Chaudhry and Khalid Bashir.
