ISLAMABAD - Chief Election Commissioner Justice (r) Hamid Ali Mirza will retire tomorrow (Friday).

The ECP said on Wednesday that the commission bade farewell to the outgoing CEC who was sworn in on 24 March, 2009.

ECP Secretary Ishtiak Ahmad Khan paid tribute to the CEC, saying that during his tenure the commission achieved many goals. Director General Muhammad Afzal Khan praised the achievements made in the last three years and mentioned remarkable contribution such as introduction of first-ever Strategic Plan 2010-14, preparation of computerised electoral rolls, consultative meetings, laying foundation stone of Federal Election Academy, conducting successful Saarc CECs conference, finalising Electronic Voting Machines and other initiatives. The CEC thanked the officials for their support.
