RAWALPINDI - The second day of women’s multiple co-curricular activities concluded with the colorful event of drama competition on Wednesday.

Pakistan National Council for Arts (PNCA) Director General (DG) and renowned TV artist Tauqeer Nasir was the chief guest while FJWU Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Samina Amin Qadir, Department of Media and Communication Studies Director Dr Shamim Zaidi, other faculty members and a large number of students were also present on the occasion.

Sajjad Kishwar, Abbas Shah, Sharjeel Malik and Dr. Humaira Ahmad were the judges for the competition.

The students of different universities from all over Pakistan participated in the event. The dramas were based on the central theme of the whole event.

In the competition, Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) was the winner of the first position and second position went to FJWU but being the host institution it withdrew in favour of Sargodha University while IQRA University got the third position.

Similarly, Saad Sultan from QAU got best performer’s award and the varsity also won the trophy.

PNCA DG Tauqeer Nasir, while speaking on the occasion, appreciated the talent of the young students and applauded the efforts of the university administration for conducting the event in a healthy and competitive environment.

The FJWU VC also presented university souvenirs to the judges as a token of appreciation.

On the other hand, Bilingual Contest also held at varsity in which VC FJWU Prof Dr Samina Amin Qadir was the chief guest.

As many as 18 teams from different educational institutions participated in the contest.

The titles for declamation in English were “Today’s Youth Tomorrow’s Leaders” and “To lead or not to lead”.

The titles for declamation in Urdu were “Aj Ka Naujwan Kal Ka Quaid” in serious category and in Humorous was “Mein Naujwan Hoon Mje Sb Pta Hai”.

Dr Waseema Shehzad from Air University, Asstt Prof Ghazala Tabassum from Government Postgraduate College Satellite Town Rawapndi and Fareena Iqbal from FJWU were the judges for English declamation whereas the judges for Urdu declamation were Tahira Nawazish Ali from Viqar-un-Nisa College, Tipu Road, Farhat Nawaz from FG Post Graduate College for Women Kashmir Road and Sadia Rizvi.

In the English declamation, Anum Mansha of FJWU secured the first position; however, it withdrew in favour of Faiqa Chugtai from Islamia University, Bahawalpur. Umber Malik of Islamic International University Islamabad, got the second position and Rana Junaid from PMAS-AAUR, Rawalpindi secured the third position.

In Urdu declamation in Urdu, the first position went to Ammara Qazi of IIUI and second was given to Saeeda Shahdab of| Institute of Space and Technology, Islamabad whereas the third position was awarded to Syeda Arroba Kazmi of FJWU but being from the host university, she withdrew the prize in favor of Sarah Amanat of Sargodha University, Sargodha.

The winning trophy was given to FJWU but it was withdrawn in favour of IIUI.

Fascinating shorts Films and Documentary Competition based on the theme of “Youth & Leadership” also held on second day.

The chief guest of the event was Nargis Hashmi. The panel of judges comprised Munazza Javed, Nida Fatima and Darakhsan Batool.

In the competition, first prize was given to the participants of Riphah International University and second prize to FUCLAS, Islamabad whereas the third prize awarded to Gomal University. DI Khan.

The Photography Competition showcases the creative and artistic skills of the amateur talent.

Sajjad Munir, Deputy Director Lok Virsa, was the chief guest while the judges for the event included Afshan Jamal and Raheela Mushtaq.

There were two themes for photography competitions; Women Leadership and Aaj Ka Naujwan. 

In the category of Women Leadership Photography, Amber Latif from FJWU got first position but she withdrew in favour of Muhammad Shafeeq from Islamia University Bhawalpur. Second position went to Anila Javed from Foundation University and the third position was secured by Qurat-ul-Ain from Iqra University.

In Aaj Ka Naujwan category, Amna Zaeeb from Foundation University secured first position, and Muhammad Shafeeq secured second position. On the third day of the women week, the events of software programming competition, Singing Competition and Sports prize distribution ceremony will be held.
