MIRPUR (AJK) - Former Azad Jammu and Kashmir prime minister Barrister Sultan has levelled serious corruption charges against the AJK government, led by PM AJK Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, and indicated that some people are posted on important posts.

He said the Ehtesab Bureau had sent several letters against postings of these officers, but the government put aside all the advices and posted them after taking a huge amount from them.

PM AJK Chaudhry Abdul Majeed in his statements rejected the allegation of corruption against the government. He said he was ready to constitute a judicial commission to hold a probe into the irregularities if any. He made it clear that the government was sincerely working for the well-being of people and was taking all possible steps for development of the area. He vowed that his government would take all steps to make society corruption free.

It has been learned that allegation were being leveled that those people who voted and supported the Muslim Conference candidate in the recent AJK general election against PPP ticket holder Barrister Sultan in LA-3 were given key posts in the government of PPAJK. It is believed that PPAJK got its landslide victory in the recent AJK Assembly elections because Barrister Sultan has his influence in division Mirpur in particular and in Poonch and Muzaffarabad divisions in general. The political leaders in AJK including Federal Ministers converted that Barrister Sultan has played vital role in PPP’s win in AJK election.

MDA Mirpur is known as “Golden Sparrow” in the entire Azad Kashmir to promote the mafias and to only manipulate and maneuver the political and economical games of big political bosses through unfair means in the history of AJK. Violation of merit at each level is a common thing. Postings and promotions are increasingly made on the basis of personal contacts and political affiliations. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto started his offer for power on the promise of Roti, Kapra aur Makan. He also raised voice against the imbalance and made promised to distribute wealth from rich to poor and to wipeout corruption.

TheNation contacted former AJK premier Barrister Sultan Mehmood. He demanded of the AJK government to immediately dismiss all those officers who were facing corruption charges and deployed on key posts. He said that he was giving another chance to the govt to remove all these officers, adding that he otherwise would disclose facts against them. He demanded of the government to immediately relinquish services of such elements otherwise it would cast a very bad impression on them.
