Ex-deputy speaker joins PTI

AHMEDPUR EAST - Former Punjab Assembly deputy speaker Sahibzada Muhammad Usman Abbasi Wednesday joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the presence of party Chairman Imran Khan at Dera Nawab Sahib.
However, Usman Abbasi’s son PPP MPA Muhammad Gazain Abbasi neither attended Imran’s press conference nor joined PTI. He had received Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani last week at Bahawalpur airport.

Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI) President & former PPP MPA Sahibzada Muzammilur Rasheed Abbasi, who had already joined PTI six months ago, was also present on the occasion. PTI Senior Vice Chairman Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, President Javed Hashmi and PTI Chairman Imran Khan welcomed Usman Abbasi in party.
Earlier, Imran Khan and Javed Hashmi stayed at the residence of Usman Abbasi in Cantonment area. Later, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and his son Makhdoom Zain Qureshi left with Imran Khan for Khanewal.
It is pertinent to mention that PTI failed to organise public meeting at Chowk Abbasia despite announcement in City Ahmedpur East where as many as 140 persons gathered but Imran Khan did not address them and only waved his hands. He briefly spoke at a press conference and small gathering in the lawn of Sadiq Garh Palace.
