RAWALPINDI – A special search operation at Adyala Jail concluded Wednesday evening wherein a jail warden was captured with a mobile phone, two battery chargers and a SIM, which he wanted to hand over to the prisoners.

Confirming the search operation, Adyala Jail Senior Superintendent Malik Mushtaq Ahmed Awan said that on the basis of information a team, formed by him, raided the jail to break the nexus between criminals and jail staff.

He said that during the search operation, the team frisked a warden Waqas, who was deputed on temporary duty last night, and recovered a mobile phone, two battery chargers and a SIM from his possession.

During the initial investigation, Malik Mushtaq stated, it was surfaced that Waqas wanted to transfer this stuff to any prisoner locked in the barracks. He said that the accused warden has been handed over to Police Check Post Adyala Jail officials, who filed a case against him.

He said that a strict action would be taken against the jail staff found involved in spreading unlawful activities inside the jail.
