LAHORE – Provincial Minister for Livestock and Dairy Development Malik Ahmad Ali Aulakh has said that a state-of-the-art semen production unit is under-construction at Khizar Abad for the development of Sahiwal Cow, Nili Ravi buffalo and other breeds. Chairing a meeting of Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Board (PLDDB) on Wednesday, he said that the centre would produce one million semen doses annually.
Chief Executive PLDDB M Ali Khan and other officers were also present. Provincial Minister said that Punjab government was giving special attention to livestock sector so that production of meat and milk could be increased. He told that Punjab govt has allocated Rs 2,500 million for the development of livestock under Annual Development Programme.
Muhammad Ali informed that 100 male Artificial Insemination Assistants and 105 female Livestock Extension Worker from Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan districts have been trained and were working in the field in their respective areas. In the second phase, 200 male and female belonging to districts Sialkot, Mianwali, Bhakkar and Narowal were being trained. He said that work was underway in silage making project. He said arrival of machinery was expected by the last week of April and soon silage would be available to the farmers at economical rate.
