Police bust gang of car lifters

ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad police on Wednesday busted a gang of foreigners, which has been striking in various sectors of Islamabad since long.
“The busted gang car lifters included Afghan nationals who used to lift vehicles from different localities of federal capital Islamabad,” a spokesperson of Islamabad police said.
Utterly alarmed by the growing incidents of car thefts in the federal capital, a special team was constituted under the supervision of DSP Malik Tahir Mehmud and SHO Sajjad Bukhari to ensure arrest of car thieves who lifted cars from the jurisdictions of Koral police.
The raiding team succeeded to arrest six persons including four Afghan nationals for their alleged involvement in cars theft cases.
The nabbed persons were identified as Adnan s/o Jan, Shah Wali s/o Abdul Aziz Khan, Nur ul Rehman s/o Abdul Rehman Jan Agha s/o Gul Agha residents of Afghanistan, Irshad s/o Muhammad Ismail, resident of Dhok Syedan Rawalpindi, and Mardna Ali s/o Azeem Khan, resident of Bagh.
According to the police, the arrested persons had confessed lifting of cars from PWD Colony, Korang Town and further investigation is underway from them.
Meanwhile, the Sabzi Mandi police apprehended six suspects and Aabpara police nabbed two suspects during search operations in their respective areas.
ASI Mumtaz Baig from Margallah police arrested two street criminals Ashiat Iqbal, Kamran Ahmed and recovered mobile phones, cash and pistols from their possession. Similarly, Tarnol police nabbed an accused Ameer and recovered 112-gram heroin from him while Industrial area police recovered a stolen mobile phone from one Uzair.
