LAHORE (PR) - Hundreds of Wapda workers took out a large rally from Bakhtiar Labour Hall, Lahore under the aegis of ‘Pakistan Wapda Hvdro Electric Central Labour Union’ to protest against serious loadshedding and increase in power tariff.  The rally was led by Secretary General of the Union Khurshid Ahmed, which marched through various roads. The workers were carrying banners in support of their demands and criticised policies adopted by government on the behest of IMF and the World Bank which according to them, had ruined Wapda administrative set up.  Later, the protestors staged a sit-in at Laxshmi Chowk and passed the resolution, urging the Government to establish rule of law in the country and abolish feudalism and impose heavy tax on the elite. They urged the government to adopt national economic self reliance policy and raise the wages and pensions of the workers in the budget. S Sajjad Hussain, Malik Noor Muhammad, Rana M  Akram, Haji Muhammad Younus, Ch Maqsood Ahmed, Sh Muhammad Shoaib also participated in the rally.
