LAHORE – A 25-year-old passerby and an alleged robber were shot dead during crossfire between the police and the robbers in Makka Chowk, in Sabzazaar area, police said on Wednesday night.

Police investigators claimed that gunmen riding on a motorcycle held up one Ahmed Nawaz G-block on Wednesday night. The bandits were fleeing after snatching cash and mobile phone from the motorcyclist when the police reached the spot and started chasing the bandits.

According to the police, the robbers opened fire on the policemen, triggering an encounter in the residential locality. One of the robbers sustained bullet wounds and died on the spot, while three passers-by also received bullet injuries during the crossfire. They were shifted to local hospital, where one of the injured succumbed to wounds. The deceased was later identified as 25-year-old Tammal Hussain. The police have removed the bodies to the morgue for autopsy and are investigating.

Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man was found slaughtered from Naseerabad police area on Wednesday. Police said that unidentified killers slaughtered the man, yet to be identified so far, and fled away after throwing his body near G-block graveyard. The police have registered a murder case against unidentified killers and are investigating.
