KARACHI - Three people were killed in separate incidents of violence in the city on Wednesday.

Four unidentified armed bandits intercepted a car driven by 27-year-old Asif Ali near New Preedy Street. As the motorist offered resistance, the gunmen opened fire on him.

As a result, Ali and a carpet vendor, namely Saleem, 60, son of Khuda Bux, received bullets and were shifted to a nearby hospital, where Saleem dies during treatment.

Police officials claimed to have arrested one of the killers, namely Owais, and recovered a TT pistol from him. His accomplices, namely Sabir, Shahid and Sohail, managed to escape from the scene, however.

The victim was a resident of Chakiwara, Lyari, and Asif of Saddar Market. The body was handed over to the heirs. No case was registered till the filing of this report.

Separately, bullet-riddled body of a youth was found from Parsi Colony in the remits of the Soldier Bazaar Police Station. The victim, identified as 28-year-old Raees, son of Rafiq, was found dead near a garbage drum. The police officials said the victim had been shot in the temple and he had several torture marks on his body. They said the victim was identified from his CNIC found from his pocket.

The officals further said that Raees used to work for a chicken shop in Kharadar. He went missing on Tuesday night. The victim’s brother, Abdul Hameed, received his body from the Civil Hospital Karachi. He informed the police that his brother had no enmity with anyone. The victim was unmarried. A case has been registered against unidentified killers on the complaint of Abdul Hameed.

Another bullet-riddled body was found near Chandni Marriage Hall in the limits of the Korangi Police Station. The victim was identified as Azhar Ali, son of Akhtar Ali, who was said to be an alleged bandit and was killed by his other accomplices while looting a passer-by Salman.

The victim hailed from Jhang. Nobody turned up to claim the dead body until the filing of this report.
