Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary-General Liaqat Baloch said that his party always opposed the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and demanded a ban on the MQM, alleging that the latter was a terrorists and killers’ party.

He also said that the general elections 2013 were controversial thus the judicial commission should launch a comprehensive probe into the issue as top priority.

He also said that the general elections-in Karachi and Hyderabad were hijacked by the MQM at gunpoint so the results could not be accepted. He demanded that the Election Commission of Pakistan should immediately hold elections in Karachi and Hyderabad.

He also urged the government to hold local bodies elections according to the decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Liaqat Baloch added that terrorists were the enemies of humanity and don’t deserve any concession. The law calls for their execution after completion of trial and other legal formalities, he said. Talking to the media in the district office of the Jamaat-e-Islami ahead of a luncheon, he said that the rulers should realise their lapses and try to make amends. He said that the people in power and the national leadership should firmly resolve to defend the country’s ideology and the Constitution.

He said that JI was the only party which truly represents the people of the country. He called for strict implementation of the Islamic provisions of the Constitution to meet challenges.

He added that now it is proved by their own people that MQM was responsible for target killing and terrorist activities and attack in Karachi and other cities of the Sindh province. This was being done on the orders of their leader Altaf Hussain, he said.

Baloch expressed concerns over the Nation Action Plan, saying that it was being used to harass religious institutes and their organizations’ office-bearers, and demanded that the practice should be stopped.

He said that the government’s policies were against farmers’ interests. He said that due to these policies of the government agriculturists were crushed and no one in the market is purchasing their commodities on respective prices.

He further added that hike in prices and inflation rate had badly damaged the life of the common people. He informed the media that to show solidarity with the farmers, JI Kissan Board would arrange a convention on April 5, 2015at Adda Vijhiyan Wala.

He said that reduction in petroleum products’ prices was not according to the reduction in international market, and its benefits are not being passed on to the poor.
