Police have taken five suspects into custody during a search operation conducted within the limits of Waris Khan and New Town police stations to purge the localities of anti-social elements.

Similarly, police also checked some 25 hotels, informed police spokesman here on Saturday. According to him, police following the instructions of City Police Officer Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi carried out a search operation. Police during door-to-door search within limits of PS Waris Khan questioned 55 people. On the occasion, five suspects were held by police and shifted them to police station, he added. He said that police also seized three motorcycles after the owners failed to produce registration books before the investigators.  

Meanwhile, in an action against sellers and fliers of kites, police arrested 34 people and recovered 489 kites. The police also registered cases against four hotel owners and tenants under section 11 Punjab Information of Temporary Residency 2015 Ordinance.

Meanwhile, Rawalpindi police will observe 23rd March as Youm-e-Shohda (Martyrs Day). In this connection, a special ceremony will be organized at Police Line Number 1.
