LAHORE - WAPDA on Monday signed a contract worth $ 25 million with M/s ETERN – CCCE – HEI, a consortium of three Chinese companies, for the up-gradation of the existing Switchyard of Tarbela Hydel Power Station so that electricity could be transmitted from the station after completion of the 1410 MW – Tarbela 4th Extension Hydropower Project.

As per the contract, the up-gradation work would be completed by the end of May 2017. The contract signing ceremony was held at WAPDA House.

WAPDA Chairman Zafar Mahmood, WAPDA Member (Water) Muhammad Shoaib Iqbal, Member (Power) Badrul Munir Murtaza, Member (Finance) Anwarul Haq, Tarbela Dam Project General Manager Iqbal Masood Siddiqui and other senior officers of WAPDA were also present on the occasion.

Tarbela 4th Extension Hydropower Project Director Sohail Khan and the Consortium’s Chief Representative Cao Yutao signed the contract on behalf of their companies.

Speaking on the occasion, WAPDA chairman asked the consortium to complete the work within the stipulated time.

The consortium’s chief representative assured him that all the deadlines would be met, in accordance with the technical specifications and established standards.
