Painting Pakistan Day

LAHORE - The National College of Arts (NCA) along with Punjab University and Lahore College for Women University hosted a painting exhibition in which students of fourteen universities showcased 60 artworks yesterday at Alhamra Arts Council, The Mall.
The exhibition tilted Drawing and Painting Competition was arranged by Punjab government in connection with Pakistan Day celebrations.
First and third prizes were awarded to Punjab University while the second prize was given to Lahore College for Women University, Imran Ahmed of NCA told The Nation. He said the right after announcing the painting competition on the theme of Pakistan Day; we received huge participation from the students of various public and private universities.
Principal National College of Arts (NCA), Prof Dr Murtaza Jafri on the occasion said that thorough these kinds of exhibitions and competitions universities students were able to showcase their talent and it also become opportunity for them to express their affection for Pakistan.
Students of various universities participated in the competition included University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, National College of the Arts, Punjab University, Lahore College for Women University, Government College, Gulberg College for Women, Himat-e-Islam College, Allama Iqbal Medical College, Samanabad College, Islamia College (Cooper Road), Superior Group of Colleges, University of Education and Commerce college. While, UMT, BNU and Comsets declined to participate organizers of the exhibition shared that.
The size of artworks remained 20x30, and students were allowed to choose material and medium as per their choice. NCA has been nominated as the host of this event along with the Lahore College for Women University and the Punjab University.
The entries in the competition judged for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions by the panel of three judges. Paintings on Quaid-e-Azam Muhmmad Ali Jinnah, Allama Iqbal, national flag painted along with lyrical poems of national poet Sir Allam Iqbal.
Female students of various universities told The Nation the competition led them participate in it and with Pakistan Day theme, all of the paintings, drawings and artworks shows students just need opportunities to show their talent.
