Rangers induct new batch of recruits

LAHORE - Passing out Parade of Recruits from Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) for PRA-22 course was held at Punjab Regimental Centre Mardan on Monday.
643 recruits from all parts of the country completed their basic training and formally joined the ranks of Pakistan Rangers (Punjab). Director General Pakistan Rangers (Punjab), Major General Umar Farooq Burki was the Chief Guest of the passing out parade.
Addressing the Punjab Rangers young soldiers, the Director General highlighted that the soldiers are not only bestowed with honour of defending motherland but are also selected to contribute towards security of China Pakistan Economic Corridor by protecting trade routes and installations.
“Our country is passing through trying times when terrorism is threatening the lives and properties of our countrymen. Our forces are fully committed to fight these elements and root them out completely. Insha Allah, with the nation's support, we will prevail. Director General also advised the soldiers to make use of their training to the best of their abilities and keep pursuing excellence in their professional lives,” he added.
At the end, recruits with outstanding performances were awarded prizes to recognize their hard work. Director General also appreciated the efforts of training staff of Rangers as well as Punjab Regimental Centre who imparted the best possible training to the young soldiers. The ceremony was attended by large numbers of civil, military, notables from civil society and family members of the recruits.
Spring Mela concludes: A three day Spring Mela for special children culminated yesterday arranged by Pakistan Group for Down Syndrome (PGDS) on eve of World Down Syndrome Day.
The festival was arranged in collaboration with Punjab Welfare Trust for the Disabled and District administration. The concluding day a painting exhibition and certificate distribution ceremony was held at APWA Auditorium Jial Road in which Guest of Honor Syeda Saloni Bukhari along with Akhuwat CEO Dr Amjad Saqib and PWDT Dr Izhar Hashmi. A Downs syndrome Pakistan Walk by civil society led by Minister for Special Education Asif Minshas at Jilani Park Special Children Area was also took out on the second day of Spring Mela.
