LAHORE - Lahore High Court Chief Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif Friday took suo moto notice of non-functional labour courts, labour appellate tribunals and NIRC after the repeal of the Industrial Relations Act 2008. The CJ also sought a report from the Punjab chief secretary in this regard and ordered the advocate general Punjab to appear before the court to assist it on May 24. The court took action on a fax received from the general secretary All Pakistan Federation of Mazdoor Unions. He submitted after the repeal of the Industrial Relations Act 2008, on April 30, all labour courts, labour appellate tribunals and NIRC had become non-functional. Whereas no legislation at provincial level had been made in this regard due to which thousands of workers were worried about the fate of their cases pending before the courts.
