KARACHI (APP) - KCCI President Abdul Majid Haji M underlined the need for Pak-Canadian joint ventures in alternate energy development, supply chain solutions and agriculture sector. KCCI high powered trade delegation is scheduled to visit Canada in the coming July. It will visit the leading chambers of Canada and will hold B2B meetings with their counterparts. If Canadian High Commission in Pakistan will extend its cooperation, KCCI may hold an exhibition in Canada during this visit, he said in a meeting with Robert N. Webb, Commercial Counsellor from High Commission of Canada in Islamabad who visited Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said KCCI release. President KCCI informed that the Chamber will organize a single country exhibition of Pakistan in Vancouver in March 2011 in collaboration with Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP). Through the Counsellor , he invited Canadian companies to participate in 7th My-Karachi : Oasis of Harmony international exhibition being organized by KCCI in June 2010, he said. He hoped that in the coming days there will be stronger relations between the two Govts and the peoples. Robert N. Webb, Canadian Commercial Counsellor , expressed that bi-lateral trade potential does exist but is not been properly utilized. He articulated that Pakistan holds a strategic geographic position in the region acting as a gateway to Central Asian Republics and China, and connecting to Europe through Iran and Turkey. He was of the view that at present, law and order situation is better in Pakistan. However, the investment factor in Pakistan is subject to safety , security and improved law and order situation. He informed that Canada and Chilly were jointly engaged in the gold-mine project at Balochistan. Canadian Commercial Counsellor informed that travel advisory is issued after analysis of law and order history of past several months. For enhancing the bilateral trade , he stressed on the need of effective liaison among corporate sector of both countries with support of Canadian High Commission. He concluded that Pakistan and Canada are maintaining friendly relationship since last few decades and trade volume is increasing with the span of time. He also appreciated the direct flights of PIA to Canada . He informed that bilateral issues of Pakistan and Canada will be discussed in G-8 conference which will be held in Canada soon.
