Pirates pip Ajax for title

JOHANNESBURG (AFP) - Orlando Pirates pipped Ajax Cape Town on goal difference to win the South African Premiership title on Saturday after a dramatic climax to the season. The Buccaneers edged Golden Arrows 2-1 at Orlando Stadium in Soweto thanks to a fierce 84th-minute drive from Zambian midfielder Isaac Chansa to finish with 60 points and a plus-18 goal difference from 30 matches. Zimbabwean Knowledge Musona converted a late penalty to give Kaizer Chiefs a 2-1 win over AmaZulu in Durban and third place on 59 points and Mamelodi Sundowns beat Bloemfontein Celtic 3-1 to come fourth a point further back. Fantastic, screamed Pirates Dutch coach Ruud Krol while surrounded by jubilant, boisterous supporters who invaded the pitch when the full-time whistle sounded less than a minute after the Cape Town match ended.
