Its the loss of political power that our opulent rulers and their cronies grieve the most. For them this power is the be-all and end-all for a happy and prosperous life since its a source of enormous gains for them. When the government and the opposition lock horns for their political ambitions and the country is pushed into a state of an alarming turmoil, its then that things get out of control. The power outages, however, do not bother the rulers and the 'privileged in the least because the state ensures that they receive free and uninterrupted power supply for 24 hours a day, be it winter or summer, during hail-storms and stormy conditions, even during break-downs and shut-downs. If a need ever arises, huge imported generators come to their rescue and render efficient service till required. These outages in our country are the commoners bane and they must endure them with patience day in and day out without protest though not without immense suffering. Is this not a naked violation of the constitution that guarantees equality before law to all the citizens? The honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan is requested to take suo-moto action in this matter and declare null and void all notifications and orders which exempt the rulers and the 'privileged from loadsheding, even if it has the effect of self-denial.
