SWAT - Political bickering has started in Swat, as renowned leaders of various parties have started leveling allegations against one another.
The other day, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Vice President Amir Muqam accused Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Forest Wajid Ali Khan of a large scale corruption. Muqam leveled these allegations against the minister in a press conference the other day, following which Wajid Ali Khan challenged Amir Muqam to hold a public debate on May 20 at Swat Press Club. “If I am found guilty, I’ll not only publicly resign from my office on the spot, but will also quit politics for good,” the provincial minister declared.
He along with scores of his supporters arrived at the appointed site. However, the prime accuser did not come.
Talking in his defence, Wajid Ali Khan charge Amir Muqam with an abundant of allegations. “Let him prove my involvement in corruption, even worth a grain, I feel myself at liberty to announce my resignation from politics for good,” Wajid Ali stated. “Let me remind you of Ameer Muqam’s real position, who was nothing but a petty mushy in the past. It is he whose hands are grubby with the filthy lucre,” he added.
Referring to the October 2005 earthquake, the provincial minister said Amir Muqam received billions of rupees for assistance of the earthquake victims of Shangla. “Where did the money go? No one knows it.” Wajid Ali stressed.
“The rumours are that I have procured property in foreign countries. Let people step forward and prove it and I will be glad to donate it to the Saidu Teaching Hospital and other welfare organisations. It was the initially pocket less of a dime Amir Muqam who, due to the favoritism showered at him by the authoritarian Musharraf, accumulated through wide scale larceny billions and procured property in countries like Ajman, Dubai, etc.,” Wajid Ali elaborated.
“If there was any truth in Amir Muqam’s statement, he would have accepted my challenge and appeared in person at the Swat Press Club. Since he dishonestly accused me, from now onwards, I announce the start of my personal feud with Amir Muqam,” the emotional Wajid Ali Khan concluded.
