The Kamonke Police SHO was killed and cashier and guard of a petrol pump were injured by fleeing dacoits after looting Rs1.4 million from there in Aimanabad area here on Tuesday.
As per detail, four armed dacoits raided a petrol pump here in Aimanabad area and took Rs1.4 million from the cashier namely Umair. In the meantime on sighting police Inspector Adil Shamshad who accidentally came there for refuelling, the fleeing dacoits opened fire, killing the inspector on the spot while cashier Umair and guard Yaqoob sustained bullet wounds and were rushed to Civil Hospital Gujranwala.
According to reports, the ill-fated newly-posted Kamoke Police SHO Adil Shamsad came to the petrol pump for refuelling but fell victim to the firing by the dacoits. The Aimanabad Police registered a case against unidentified accused. Later, funeral of the deceased cop was offered which was attended by the CPO and other police officers.
Meanwhile, talking to The Nation CPO Tariq Malik pledged stern action against the culprits. He claimed that the police had cordoned off the entire area and would arrest the culprits soon.
