Books, our best friends

Our childhood was totally different from now; we had only TV and then only one channel. Most of the youth depended on books for knowledge and to pass time. The child of today has too many electronic gadgets to play with. It was believed that reading books made people wise, but now it is being proved wrong. Somehow the blame goes to education system which is just producing ‘degree holders’ instead of scholars. There are many ‘Book Fairs’ and ‘Education Expo’ to make our youth appreciate books. These also promote reading habits in the public, especially in our students. The decline in book reading is a bad omen for the development of a society as civilised, educated, and tolerant.
