LAHORE:  It refers to a photograph captioned as “Wapda lineman repair power cables without safety gear in Gilgit” that was published in a section of Press.
It is explained that Gilgit-Baltistan has its own power department which is responsible for all matters related to electricity including maintenance and repair of its infrastructure and transmission and distribution under the adminrstralive control of the government of Gilgit-Baltistan. Wapda has got nothing to do with it.
Moreover, it is placed on record that all matters related to electricity in all the four provinces including FATA but excluding Karachi are under the domain of PEPCO. WAPDA’s mandate is limited to construction of new dams and hydro projects, and operation and maintenance of the existing hydel power stations.–PR
