Plea for cut in salary of public servants, reps

LAHORE - A writ petition was filed yesterday in the Lahore High Court, seeking up to 50 percent cut in salary and perks of parliamentarians, judges and bureaucrats.

Barrister Javed Iqbal Jafree filed the petition and submitted that the country was burdened under foreign loans but salaries/perks of public offices holders, judges and civil servants were increased extraordinary. He submitted that they enjoyed number of facilities from medical treatment to foreign tours at public expenses, whereas common people cannot even get the general medicines at government hospitals.

The lawyer prayed to the court to order a reduction in the salaries and perks of the parliamentarians, judges and bureaucrats up to 50 per cent in the larger interest of public.
