Rawalpindi - Following the instructions of City Police Officer Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi, police yesterday unveiled comprehensive security plan to guard the devotees on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat, which will be held tonight.

According to security plan , as many as 1,500 policemen would be deputed at mosques, Imambargahs and other worship places, informed police spokesman. He added that police would establish special pickets on all the entry and exit points to keep a vigil on suspicious elements and criminals whereas the squads of Elite and Mohafiz Force would patrol the areas to avoid any untoward incident. He said that the setting off fireworks, firing and one wheeling would strictly be prohibited on Shab-e-Barat. Action would be taken against the violators as per law, he said.

On the other hand, CPO Israr Abbasi held an open court in his office and listened to public complaints against police. He directed the police officers to solve the problems of public on priority basis.

Hina Munir Advocate appeared before the CPO and told that a man namely Aitsham had threatened her of dire consequences on mobile phone. She sought legal action against the accused. Taking action, the CPO asked station house officer police station Airport to register case against the man. Meanwhile, Regional Police Officer Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja issued transfer and posting orders of three inspectors, sources informed The Nation yesterday.

According to sources, RPO Wisal Fakhar transferred his Reader, Inspector Ghulam Abbas Shah and posted him at Range Investigation Bureau (RIB). Inspector Suhail Zafar, who earlier was serving in RIB, has been appointed as reader to RPO, sources said adding that Inspector Tanveer Waraich was posted at Traffic Headquarters.

Separately,  a gang of three armed dacoits intercepted a family in Morgah and snatched Rs 8,000 cash, gold ornaments and mobile phone at gunpoint and fled away, sources revealed to The Nation yesterday.

Police Station Moragh lodged a case against dacoits on complaint of victim Masood Akhtar.

Unknown gang of robbers also robbed gold, cash, mobile phones and other electronic appliances from three houses located at Mohra Faqeeran, Baryan and Dhamial within limits of PS Saddar Bairooni. Police registered case with no arrest or recovery so far.

Separately, four robbers entered a house located within limits of PS Westridge in broad daylight and attempted to loot the house. However, the inmates beat the robbers with clubs and sticks. On this, the robbers started firing on the inmates. Nonetheless, a robber got injured with firing of his accomplices. Upon calling police by the family, robbers escaped from the scene, sources said.

Meanwhile, unknown carjackers lifted a car (bearing registration numbers ICT-HM-996) and two motorcycles (RIN-6503 and RIR-5514) from the precincts of police station Naseerabad and Morgah.
