KARACHI - The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday ordered the Sindh government to give a monthly allowance of Rs25,000 to PhD degree holders. An SHC bench heard a the plea filed by Dr Liaqat Ali Abro and ordered the Chief Secretary (CS) Sindh to forward the summary to Chief Minister (CM) Sindh Sayed Murad Ali Shah within 15 days’ time for grant of Rs25,000 monthly allowance to all government employees holding a PhD degree.
The petitioner complained about inequalities in PhD allowances, saying some PhD holders are being given a Rs25,000 monthly allowance while the others Rs10,000.
The government prosecutor informed the court that PhD holders serving in universities are getting Rs25,000 while other officers having PhD degrees getting Rs10,000 monthly allowance.
The court directed the chief secretary that all employees of government holding PhD degree be given an equal allowance of Rs25,000.
