APC announces strikes, protests on Sunday

ISLAMABAD - The leaderships of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Indian Held Kashmir (IHK) have strongly reacted to governments move of awarding Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status to India, announcing grand strikes and protests on November 25. At the All Parties Conference (APC) on Kashmir on Monday, former AJK President Sardar Anwar, Education Minister Mian Waheed, Ameer Jamat-e-Islami (JI) AJK Abdul Rasheed Turabi, Shah Ghulam Qadir, Abdul Majeed Malik, Sagheer Chughtai, Sardar Khalid Ibraheem, Maulana Saeed Yousuf, Mahmood Saghir, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Ghulam Nabi Nowshehri, Sardar Ejaz Afzal, Amanullah Khan, Rafeeq Dar, Maulana Abdul Aziz Alvi, Maulana Anwar Rukannuddin and Munir Chaudhry said that Pakistan granted MFN status to India that divided Pakistan into two pieces. The speakers said that India unleashed terrorism on Pakistan by blocking its water, and killing innocent people in IHK. The speakers said that till the IHK is liberated from Indian control, there should be no active contacts between Pakistan and India. Sardar Anwar said that due to the destruction of industry in Pakistan, the trade with India was very harmful and it would increase unemployment in Pakistan. Mian Waheed said that there should be national consensus whether to give India MFN status or not. He said that Kashmiris are fighting for independence for the last 65 years. Shah Ghulam Qadir said that PML-N would never accept MFN status for India. He said that five hundred thousand people were jobless in Faisalabad and Pakistans economy was totally crippled. He said that under these circumstances, granting MFN to India would push Pakistan towards more economic destruction. Sardar Khalid Ibrahim said that the AJK government was hiding its weaknesses. He deplored that Zulfiqar Ali Bhuttos legacy was tarnished by the incumbent PPP regime. Abdul Rasheed Turabi said that declaring India the MFN by Pakistan created resentment and panic among Kashmiri community. He demanded the government to reconsider its decision and take back the MFN status. The APC decided to hold protests in Pakistan, AJK and IHK on November 25 against granting the India MFN status. This was announced by Abdul Rasheed Turabi, Ameer JI AJK, at the end of the Kashmir Conference. The leaders of all the political parties accepted the decision. The Prime Minister AJK Chaudhry Abdul Majeed was scheduled to participate in the APC on Kashmir but he could not show up for the event due to his sudden illness.
