ISLAMABAD - The countrys textile exports had registered an increase of over three per cent during the first four months (July-October) of the ongoing financial year 2011-12 against the same period last year, Federal Bureau of Statistics reported on Monday. According to the figures released, the country exported textile commodities worth of $4.208 billion in July-October period of the current financial year against the $4.073 billion of July-October period of previous financial year 2010-11. The textiles exports had gone up by 3.29 per cent in one-year period. According to the figures released by FBS, the product-wise details showed that raw cotton exports has increased by 26.87 per cent in the first four months of the current financial year, cotton yarn exports had decreased by 10.02 per cent, cotton cloth exports went up by 8.48 per cent, cotton carded exports declined by 98.81 per cent, yarn exports up by 99.38 per cent, knitwear, 0.62 per cent, bed wear, 0.15 per cent, towels, 2.98 per cent, tents, 246.96 per cent, readymade garments, 8.20 per cent, art silk and synthetic textile, 4.22 per cent, made up articles 7.80 per cent and other textile materials exports increased by 18.06 per cent in July-October period of 2011-12 against the July-October 2010-11 period, revealed the FBS data. The figures further revealed that textiles exports were reduced by over 13 per cent during the month of October against the same period last year. Meanwhile, the figures revealed that the countrys food export also registered an increase of 29.98 per cent in July-October period of the year 2011-12. The break up of food group exports revealed that rice exports went down by 12.124 per cent in the period under review, fish exports increased by 16.62 per cent, fruits, 37.51 per cent, vegetables, 56.44 per cent, pulses, 100 per cent, tobacco, 18.91 per cent, wheat, 100 per cent, spices, 16.93 per cent, oil seeds export 131.70 per cent, meat 32.41 per cent and all other food items export enhanced by 188.12 per cent in the period under review. Meanwhile, other manufactures group also enhance by 15.92 per cent. In this group, exports carpets, rugs and mats went up by 0.41 per cent and sports goods exports increased by 7.13 per cent during the period under reviewed. Similarly, the engineering goods exports has enhanced by over 50 per cent, surgical goods and medical instruments exports also went up by 20.75 per cent in July-October period of the current fiscal year against the same period last year.
