KP to launch hydel projects to meet energy crises: Hoti

PESHAWAR (APP) Chief Minister of Khyber Pakthunkhwa Ameer Haider Khan Hoti on Monday said that the government had decided to launch hydel power projects as part of its efforts to control energy crises. The construction work on two such hydel projects in the KP will commence from next month, he said while addressing a public meeting in Company Bagh Kohat. He said the arrears of hydel profit amounting to Rs 110 billion would be spent on the power projects, which would strengthen the provincial economy. The oil and gas resources were in abundance in southern districts that would be utilized for the development of people and provision of basic needs to them, he added. He said that interest-free loans have been provided to thousands of families under Bacha Khan Khpal Rozgar Scheme. Moreover, the government had introduced scholarships for intelligent students of government schools. Similarly technical training programmes at prominent institutions had also been started which would help generate employment opportunities. He announced Rs.200 million for the development of three constituencies of Kohat. Hoti said that the Lachi Water Scheme and construction of Kohat Hangu Road would cost billion of rupees. The upgrdation of BHUs (basic health units) would cost Rs 200 million, construction of Astargai Bridge would cost Rs.110 million and roads in the interior city would be built at the cost of Rs 80 million while third alternative route for southern districts would cost Rs.2.7 billion. He announced establishment of an emergency unit in Kohat Hospital costing Rs.70 million, housing scheme in Jarma and six months extension in last date of payment to landowners, setting up of a media colony and construction of Kohat Bar Room. Provincial President of ANP Senator Afrasiyab Khattak, MNA Pir Dilawar Shah and Provincial Minister Amjad Afridi, MPA Dr.Iqbal Fana also addressed the public meeting. Senior Minister Bashir Bilour, Provincial Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Provincial General Secretary of ANP Taj-ud-Din Khan, Arbab Muhammad Tahir, District President ANP Kohat Doctor Syed Shah Bukhari, General Secretary Gul Muhammad Khan, Usman Khattak of Karak, Sabz Ali Shah were also present on the occasion.
