OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE The Lahore High Court has been approached through a writ petition seeking directions to put the name of Hussain Haqqani, Pakistani ambassador to United state of America, in Exist Control List(ECL) and initiate high treason proceedings against him on Memorandum scandal. The petitioner Muhammad Iftikhar Hussain Rajpoot through his counsel Barrister Iqbal Jaffery has made cabinet secretary Nargis sethi, opposition leader in national assembly Ch Nisar Ali Khan, interior minister Rehman Malik and attorney general of Pakistan Maulvi Anwarul Haq as respondents in the writ petition. He submitted that Mr. Haqqani sent a derogatory letter to former US military chief Mike Mullen through a US based businessman Mansoor Ijaz against Pakistan army and Inter Services Intelligence (ISI). He pleaded that Haqqani had tarnished the image of Pakistan and its armed forces. He stated that Mr Haqqani had made an attempt to pledge Pakistan's sovereignty to US. He said Haqqani had wasted and minted huge amount of public money (5 million dollars) in unsuccessful defence of Dr Afia Siddique in American courts that not only caused humiliation to Pakistan but Afia was also sentenced life term. He prayed the LHC to direct all the respondents to declare their assets along with affidavits. He further prayed to initiate proceedings against them on the charges of high treason under article 6 of the Constitution.
