ORU STAFF REPORTE LAHORE An Accountability Court on Monday extended the physical remand of former Punjab University College of Information Technology Principle Dr Majid Naeem for 14 days. NAB had filed a reference against Dr Naeem in Accountability Court in December 2010 under the charges of embezzlement of Rs 27, 97,850 in college funds. Reference said that Dr Naeem, being the Principal, took out the funds on the name of some college use without the approval of competent authority and used them for his personal means. Meanwhile, Dr Naeem was suspended from Punjab University in 2000 over the corruption charges. The AC had earlier framed charges against accused on February 28; however, his arrest warrants could not be issued due to the vacant seat of NAB chairman. But after holding office, NAB chairman issued arrest warrants of Dr Naeem which was later arrested from Lahore on November 11. On Monday, the authorities produced the accused before AC and pleaded to extend the physical remand, arguing that the money is yet to be recovered from the accused. The court extended the remand and directed NAB authorities to complete the investigation by December 5.
