Nurses protest continues

MULTAN - Scores of staff nurses from different hospitals on Monday staged a protest demonstration and took out a rally against the provincial government for not increasing their salaries. The nurses included from Children Hospital, Civil Hospital, Nishtar Hospital and other hospitals have been protesting for the last 10 days demanding increase in their salaries and other incentives equal to the staff nurses working under the federal government. On Monday, the nurses took out rally from Nishtar Hospital to Commissioner office. The protesting nurses also attempted to enter the commissioner office but the police held them outside the office. The protesters were carrying banners and placards and were chanting slogans in favour of their demands. They also demanded the Provincial government to increase number of staff nurses in southern Punjab and payment of their pending allowances. They were of the view that though they had been protesting for the last ten days, nobody from the provincial government contacted them to-date. They vowed that their protest would continue until their demands were meet.
