OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHOREPunjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting at Civil Secretariat here Monday which reviewed the progress of ongoing projects initiated in health department. MPAs Kh. Salman Rafique, Dr. Saeed Elahi, Dr. Asad Ashraf, Chairman Planning & Development, Special Secretary Health and officers concerned attended the meeting. Secretary Health Jehanzeb Khan gave a detailed briefing regarding progress of ongoing projects of health department, service structure of doctors, establishment of new medical colleges, recruitment of faculty members and acquisition of medical equipments for hospitals. Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister directed to constitute an independent and autonomous committee for the purchase of equipment for hospitals wherein Health Department does not have any role. He said provision of quality medical treatment even to the people in far flung areas, is the foremost priority of the Punjab Government and directed the concerned ones to evolve a plan for the purpose of setting up independent body for purchase of equipment and submit report at the earliest. He also directed to resolve the problem of MRI machine in Children Hospital within days. The CM lauded the role of all institutions, including health department, during dengue eradication campaign and said those who showed best performance in that course would be fully encouraged. He disclosed that a committee has been constituted for this purpose and in the light of its recommendations, the process of encouraging those showed best performance.
