SANGLA HILL
Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs & Gilgit-Baltistan Muhammad Barjees Tahir has said that Pak-China Economic Corridor will generate $70 billion revenue annually in the form of transit fee.
“The project, like the Suez Canal, will play a vital role in the economic promotion of Asia especially Pakistan and China. Pakistan will turn into a transit economy soon after the completion of the trade route. It will provide the shortest trade route for goods produced in western China. China, currently, has an export volume of over 2,000 billion USD which is increasing. Chinese trade will change the fate of the region,” he said talking to journalists at his office.
He added that tourism potential of Gilgit-Baltistan had yet to be exploited. Keeping in view the number of tourists of China, a comprehensive tourism policy had been designed with the help of USAID, he said.
Talking to a public gathering at Municipal Stadium Sangla Hill, Mr Tahir said that Imran Khan would have to call off sit-ins and stubbornness. The government was ready for dialogues but no hindrance in the national development would be tolerated, he added. He said that the politics of “conflicts” by Imran Khan had become threat to the national interests. He noted that the claimants of change and new Pakistan had made KPK province den of corruption and backwardness. He alleged that the companions of Imran Khan had set new records of loot and plundering in the province.
During a meeting with the party workers, he said that people were aware of the fact that politics of sit-ins and public meetings gave nothing to them except losses and disappointment. He said that the PTI had no ability except to create uncertainty and instability in the country. He said that the stubbornness of Imran Khan had also confused his own assembly members. He said that various members of PTI were in contact with the leaderships of other political parties for defection.
He said that the political style of Imran Khan was based on leveling false allegations. He said that Imran and his companions were destroying the moral values whereas, he claimed, the PML-N leadership was custodian of decent and civilised political traditions. He said that Imran would soon realise that the people were with the truth and not those telling lies.
Addressing a function held in connection with the inauguration of new block of a Government High School, he said that the government had taken all possible steps for keeping the new generation updated on modern educational needs. He said that the projects started by Punjab chief minister like laptop programme, endowment fund, foreign study tours, educational scholarships and Danish schools have brought revolution in the educational sector in Punjab and other provinces are also following it.
He said that education is important for development of any society. Acquiring education by female students was an encouraging step as the Punjab had given priority to the provision of educational facilities. Referring to the merit policy of Punjab government, he said that Shahbaz Sharif and his team were running the government affairs in a very “transparent” manner due to which the foreign institutions were also providing assistance to it.
