Services of 1,979 LHWs confirmed on SC order

MULTAN
The Health Department has confirmed the services of as many as 1,979 lady health workers (LHWs) of Multan district. Executive District Officer Health Dr. Iftikhar Hussain Qureshi confirmed that the confirmation letters had been issued and they would be delivered at the home addresses of all the lady health workers in light of the orders of Supreme Court. He added that the lady health workers were regular staffers of health department from now on and they would get all perks being given to state workers.
UNIVERSAL CHILDREN DAY: Speakers at a function to mark Universal Children Day stressed upon the government to ensure education to all kids as it was their basic right.
The function was organized by Government College for Elementary Teachers Training (Women) and the proceedings were chaired by Deputy Director Information Multan Mian Naem Asim.
Speaking on this occasion, Mian Naem Asim regretted that majority of kids were still out of schools despite government’s efforts, asking the society to join hands with the government to ensure implementation of Education For All slogan. He added that the children living in slums were oblivious of their right to education. He asked the privileged members of society to play their role and sensitize the residents of slums on their rights.
Principal of the GCET Mrs. Zahida Batool pointed out that the element of gender discrimination was rather visible especially in South Punjab when it came to giving education to the girls. She encouraged the staff of her institution to strive for maximum enrolment.
Headmistress of Lab School Tahira Manzoor and Focal Person of Lab School Mrs Saba Arsh also spoke on this occasion.
Excited students from different classes of the Lab School presented different items to deliver messages regarding importance of kids’ education through items like tableaus and songs.
