Rawalpindi - The city traffic police would install speed cameras in Rawalpindi and Murree to check reckless driving.

Shoaib Khurram Janbaz, SSP/chief traffic officer (CTO), expressed these views while talking to The Nation at Traffic Headquarter, Race Course, on Friday.

He said that the city traffic police had decided to install speed cameras on roads in Rawalpindi and Murree to reduce accidents in the cities. He said that the speed cameras would be installed at Jhelum Road, Ayub Park, Aiport Road, Peshawar Road and in Murree. “The cameras will allow the city traffic police to issue speeding tickets to driver who are violating speed limit,” he said.

“Speed cameras fundamentally change the reckless behaviour,” he said. He said that wardens had been called from other districts who were imparting their duties with full dedication and commitment on Benazir Bhutto Road to ease traffic flow during the construction work of metro bus service project. He said that face masks had also been distributed among the traffic wardens to save them from dust.
