LAHORE: The agriculture department has set a target of 19.5 million tonnes of wheat production this year. Over 16.8 million acres of land would be brought under wheat cultivation this year to achieve the target, a spokesman for the Punjab agriculture department said here on Monday. He said wheat growers were advised to follow recommendations of agriculture experts to get better output and counter different challenges, including change in climate conditions. He said Pakistan achieved record wheat production last year. A progressive farmer from Punjab set a record of 98 maund per acre wheat production during last year, he added.–APP
