MIRPURKHAS - Contractor of the cattle market of Mirpurkhas Faisal Qureshi has protested over ‘inaction’ by the authorities against the persons forcibly receiving tax from the cattle traders.

Talking to media here on Monday, he expressed concern that Mirpurkhas commissioner, deputy commissioner and SSP were not interested in eliminating the extortion from cattle traders.

He said that he had already brought the matter to the authorities’ notice through applications, but with no result, while, on the other hand, extortionists had increased their activities at the market.

He said that he was the real and official government contractor, and was authorised to receive cattle fee from traders according to law, but some armed persons, enjoying local police’s support, continued to hurl threats at the traders.

He said that he had paid all the money in advance when the contract was given to him, but no authority was ready to provide him and the cattle traders security.

He demanded the Sindh chief minister, secretary local government, minister for local government, Sindh IG, Sindh governor, Mirpurkhas DIG and other concerned officials to take immediate notice of the matter, and provide him and traders justice by getting an FIR registered against the goons.
