KARACHI - The first death anniversary of renowned poet and columnist Jamiluddin Aali, who also served as a member of the Senate, will be observed on Wednesday.

Aali was born in Delhi, India, on January 20, 1925. He obtained his BA Economics degree from Anglo Arabic College. He passed CSS examination in 1951 and joined the Pakistan Taxation Service. He wrote many books and patriotic songs.

Aali married Tayyaba Bano in 1944 and the couple had five children. He won Pride of Performance in 1991 and Hilal-e-Imtiaz in 2004. He passed away on November 23, 2015, at the age of 90 due to cardiac arrest. On his first death anniversary , Anjuman Taraqi-e-Urdu Pakistan will arrange a Fateha Khawani at Aali’s grave.
