LAHORE - Jamaat-i-Islami chief Senator Sirajul Haq has said that the government should explain to the nation Rs 9 billion foreign debt it got during last three years.

Speaking at a reception hosted in his honour by the JI Lahore chapter in Model Town yesterday, he said that the masses were deprived of the basic facilities of education, health and employment and in this situation, only rulers could explain where the money had gone, he said.

The JI chief said that the country was in the hands of a few aristocrats who were sucking the blood of the general public.

“A few families sitting in different political parties are protecting each other’s corruption and loot and the NAB is patronising them.”

He said that it  was a big joke with the masses in the name of democracy .

Siraj that all those not coming up to the Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution  should be barred from contesting elections.

He said that the criminals and plunderers had taken refuge in the political parties with the sole aim of making money.

He said that several leaders sitting in the Opposition were more afraid of accountability than the ruling party and they did not want accountability at all.

He said had the affairs of the rulers been neat and clean, they would not have to seek the help of Qatar’s Prince.

JI Secretary General Liaquat Baloch said that the civil-military relations were affected because the governance was not good and the governments did not faithfully implement the Constitution.  He said that the club of about 500 families was plundering the public wealth in turns.

He said that only the JI could free the masses from the clutches of the plunderers.
